Westwaard Calf Milk Pasteurizer Testimonials
Before we bought our Westwaard pasteurizer we were spending $1000 per month on milk replacer. By feeding our own whole milk and saving on labour, we were able to pay our pasteurizer off in about a year. We have much bigger, healthier calves and use a lot less medication. Westwaard pasteurizers have very low maintenance costs and the auto chemical wash feature saves me a lot of time!

We recently installed our new WestWaard Control Center after having our previous one for 12 years. We like using pasteurized milk because we have healthier calves and it’s more cost-effective. Our new Control Center is easy to use and takes less time to pasteurize than our old one!

We’ve had our Westwaard Pasteurizer system for a year and a half and are very happy with it. About 6 months ago we transitioned to an automated calf feeding system that will feed whole milk. During the transition period we temporarily fed with powdered milk. Two months ago we were able to add a Westwaard bulk tank to transport milk from the pasteurizer to the calf feeder and have had great results! There has been an increase in milk consumed along with less scours when they switched from powdered milk to pasteurized whole milk.

We have been very happy with our Westwaard Pasteurizers. This is our second pasteurizer after we outgrew our first 60 gallon pasteurizer and now have a 250 gallon unit feeding approximately 200 calves, twice daily. Recently we started feeding 3 quarts of milk per feeding instead of 2 quarts and noticed the calves were healthier and grew a lot quicker. Besides the cost savings, we like using pasteurized milk versus milk replacer because we don’t have to worry about mixing the replacer to avoid clumps and the calves have better stomach health.

This pasteurizer allows us to feed whole milk to our calves and saves us from having to purchase milk replacer. In addition, the Westwaard pasteurizer is simple to run and easy to maintain.

After researching the market place extensively we decided to purchase a dual tank Westwaard pasteurizer. The dual tanks do give us the flexibility to fill /wash or pasteurize with the unit all at the same time. We never have to wait for the unit to empty to fill a pasteurizer tank with milk coming for the parlor. The health of our calves definitely improved after we started to feed the pasteurized milk instead of powder. I would advise a unit like this to anyone as it is very bullet proof and simple to use for anyone.

We had been using powdered colostrum up till that time. After starting using the pasteurized colostrum we have seen a big improvement in the condition of our calves. Weaning weights have improved remarkably after using tested colostrum from our own cows. We freeze the colostrum in plastic bags that we warm up in the pictured warmer. We have colostrum in our freezer so at all times we can warm up a bag and feed our newborn calves’ high quality product from our own cows. The Colostrum pasteurizer and Warmer are very easy to use and due to that it is done at all times. The equipment washes automatic with no handling of chemicals so safety is looked after at the same time.

We purchased our milk pasteurizer about 3 years ago. After feeding raw milk or milk powder for many years we have seen a very big improvement in our calf health when we started with the pasteurized milk. Our calves are definitely doing a lot better and have less health problems than they did with powder and raw milk. Our next step is pasteurizing the colostrum we are feeding to our newborn animals. Daritech has in our eyes one of the better solutions for that as well and all their equipment is very user friendly.

We’re saving thousands of dollars a month. The unit pays for itself very quickly. Just the savings per month on milk replacer made the decision to get the pasteurizer a no-brainer. I like the fact that the unit is made out of stainless steel and it has an automatic washing feature, which is a huge benefit because it saves time and labor.

Prior to purchasing the Westwaard 60 gallon pasteurizer the Stewardson’s took the time to manually fill up bottles with whole milk from selected cows to try to keep the milk consistent for their calves. After only 4 months of use with the pasteurizer they have already started reaping the benefits. Dylan Stewardson told us that “We have seen great growth results in our calves since purchasing the Westwaard 60 gallon pasteurizer. They have been much healthier with the consistent feeding which has allowed them to grow stronger and has saved us on medication expenses. Further it has saved us on labor time as the automatic dispenser fills the bottles. ” The Stewardson’s feed on average 40 calves three times a day.

The overall health of the calves is definitely better. We’re weaning calves a month earlier than normal; the growth rate is a lot better. We’re weaning calves at 2 months and they’re bigger than the calves were at 3 months, when they were just getting milk replacer.

The Westwaard Pasteurizer is easily the best investment I’ve made on calves. The real savings is a healthy calf from day one and they never go backwards. We just don’t have to medicate calves because they are not getting sick. The automation makes it so simple to use and gives you flexibility in your schedule.

I wasn’t sure if it would be more work than what I was used to with the convenience of powdered milk, but it turned out to be way easier! The consistency in what we feed and how we feed has made a big difference, and the calves are a lot healthier than when we fed milk replacer. It’s just easy to clean and maintain.
